Alfa Romeo Spider Engine

Spider Base Engine: Whoever chooses the Alfa Spider wants to see the open sky over their head, but also wants to feel the power under the bonnet. That is why for this car Alfa Romeo has produced two extraordinary engines: the 3.2 JTS V6 and the 2.2 JTS. Both these petrol engines use the Twin Phaser continuous variator for control of the intake and exhaust valves. They can develop power outputs of 260 and 185 horsepower respectively: two technological gems designed to speed your dreams.

The Alfa Spider is generous, as are its engines. The 3.2 JTS V6 is the most powerful engine in the entire Alfa Romeo range and is always combined with Q4 permanent four-wheel drive. The product of advanced engineering solutions, it represents the state-of-the-art in terms of engines. Consider its acceleration: from 0 to 100 km/hr in just 7 seconds.

The 2.2 JTS is no less impressive: four cylinders, twin cam shaft, 16 valves and timing variator. It is remarkably light, thanks to the use of aluminium alloy engine block and cylinder heads, and has two counter-rotating balancing shafts to reduce the amount of vibrations, giving the type of smooth running you would expect of a six-cylinder engine.

Both these engines are powerful, sparkling, and elastic, with lots of torque available even at low engine speeds (230 Nm for the 2.2 JTS and 322 Nm for the 3.2 JTS V6), and they are both Euro 4 compliant.
